A collaborative project with Union City Library, Parents of Special Need Children and SNCCF
Art specially designed for children with special needs, ages 5-14.
The main aim of the World of Color program is to offer art activities – including painting, coloring and art crafts – especially designed for a wide range of abilities. This is part of a series of programs at Union City Library targeted to children with special needs, aiming to promote self-expression, creativity, play, and a space for community.
About 6-8 different art stations feature a number of tools/ways to make artwork. For example, a coloring station will provide crayons with different types of grip, stamps with long handles, and dot markers for ease of coloring. The variety of tools offers choice and multiple ways to engage with art.
Other types of crafts include spin art with easily squeezable tubes, foam stamps with long handles, brushes with adapted handles for easier grasp, and painting with stencils and scrapers.
These art activities encourage creativity and play, and produce beautiful works of art for the children to take home.
This project has been completed. We at SNCCF were proud of our collaboration with the Union City Library personnel , Parents of the Special Need Children to implement the World of Colors and Play based learning projects. It was heartwarming to see the children with help from parents have fun participating in these two projects.
Please donate to our foundation to support these programs and others like them.
